However, it’s brought down by a lack of enemy variety, and uninspired level design. It features some excellent pixel-art, with a fairly memorable soundtrack, and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Unleash mayhem once again alongside companions like Commander Vark and his limitless machine gun ammo, Raven and his powerful slash attack, and Regular Duck, who doesn’t do much but tries his best. It’s a slice of silly fun that, although not. It doesn’t out stay its welcome, or really evolve beyond what’s initially presented but it’s vibrant, chaotic and does a good job of nailing the basics. Mighty Goose is a fantastic run and gun shooter, with tight controls, a variety of guns, and secondary abilities. Mighty Goose retains all their unlocked upgrades like the double jump, increased ammo, and charged attacks, along with any upgraded secondary weapons. All told, Mighty Goose is a fairly straightforward package, but one that’s got plenty of pixelated nostalgic charm and honk humour. Guns sound crunchy, and the Goose’s honks are hilarious, especially when used as abilities. The soundtrack is constantly engaging, and there are enough tracks to support the mayhem on-screen. At times I did feel like there was so much going on-screen that it was a bit hard to follow the action. Weapons are well animated, ammo-caps fly off walls, and there’s a lot of attention to detail when it comes to what’s happening in the foreground. While the backgrounds aren’t as detailed as we’d hoped, there’s at least enough variety. There is a lot of detail in the main character, weapons, companions, and most enemies. Mighty Goose features some striking visuals because of its pixel-art. Thankfully, the game doesn’t overstay its welcome, and you can finish it in a few sittings. This, coupled with the fairly basic level design makes the game a bit repetitive. Even the bosses aren’t as interesting, or varied barring some exceptions. While the base enemy grunts are well designed and pose a challenge, there is simply not enough variety.
